Back Up, Reinstall and Restore Data

It is recommended that you make a special BACKUP of your data WEEKLY.

BACKUP the current database to an external hard drive. If you need directions for this, please do the following:
Make a backup of your current data base on an external hard drive or flash drive.

    1. Go to My Computer
    2. Double Click the Drive where you want to create a backup folder
    3. Right click on the window
    4. Click on [New]
    5. Click on [Folder] A [New Folder] will be created and it will allow you to name the folder
    6. Name the folder InstaClaim Backups
    7. Double Click on this new folder [InstaClaim Backups]
    8. Create a New folder in this folder just as you did above in steps 3-6. Name this new folder something like InstaClaim BU Week One. Create one for Week Two, Week Three, Week Four, Week Five (for months with five weeks)
    9. Open InstaClaim
    10. Click on [tools]
    11. Click on [Check and Back Up Data Files]
    12. Go to the Middle section [Special Backup and Restore]
    13. Click on [Back Up]
    14. Go to the [Drive] Window at the bottom of the window. Choose the drive where you created the above folders. This will move it to the top window.
    15. Double Click the drive and all of the folders in that drive will drop down
    16. Drill down until you come to the [InstaClaim BU] folders you just created.
    17. Select the folder for the week you are backing up
    18. Click [Select]
    19. When the box appears that says the data has been backed up, Click [OK]
    20. Click [Close] until you get back to the main InstaClaim window.

Next, re-install InstaClaim (even if you have only used the trial, the program will detect a previous version of InstaClaim). When you re-install, click [NO] when it asks if you want to import your data. When you have finished installing, your patients should show up

In the main window. If they do not, you will have to restore your database

    TO RESTORE your database

    1. Click on [Tools]
    2. Click [Special Backup and Restore] section
    3. Click on [Restore]
    4. Click [OK]
    5. A Warning will appear. Just say ok and go on. Your data is not there anyway.
    6. The [Select Window] will appear
    7. Choose the drive, from the lower address window, that contains the backup that you made above.
    8. Double click on it and it will move to the top window.
    9. Highlight the file that contains the backup
    10. Click [Select]
    11. A window will appear that says that your data files are being restored
    12. When the window says that your files have been restored, close out of tools and go back to the main instaclaim window.
    13. Check to see if all of your files are there.

You should be set to go.
